In March 1998, Beidahuang Group was founded with approval of the State Council. In the meantime, Beidahuang Group was listed among the top 120 pilot enterprises of large-sized enterprises in China.

     The headquarters of Beidahuang Group is in Harbin, with 9 branches, 104 farms, 1,136 enterprises of industry, commerce, transportation, construction, and services, 16 institutions for scientific research and development, 4 universities and colleges, 3 adult colleges, 2 technical vacational schools, 138 middle schools, 140 primary schools, 126 hospitals, 90 health centers, 70 health centers for women and children, 71 TV transmitting stations, 111 cable TV stations, and Nongken Daily.

     In 2004, the GDP was 23.61 billion Yuan. Total population is 1.579 million, with employees of 731,000. Land area owned by the corporation covers 5.439 million hectares, 12.6% of the total land area of the entire province, including 2.124 million hectares of cultivated land area and 476,000 hectares of cultivatable wasteland. Of the corporation's forest resources, there are 891,000 hectares of forest area, 49.32 million cubic meters in timber reserves, and total forest coverage of 15.12%. 418,904 of beef cows, 267,266 of milk cows,1.315 million of breeding pigs,2.062 million of goats,7.352 million of poultry;Of the corporation's water resources, the total water surface area is 273,000 hectares, with surface water resource of 8.67 billion cubic meters, surface stream volume of 5.67 billion cubic meters, capable water volume of 3.702 billion cubic meters, shallow underground water volume of 3 billion cubic meters, and exploitable volume of 2.98 billion cubic meters.

     The main agricultural products of the corporation include grain, oil plant, sugar beet, fruit, meat, milk, and aqua-products.

     In 2004, the import and export volume of the corporation was $ 210 million USD.

     The corporation owns 54 airports, and 30 aircrafts used for agriculture. There are 198 grain processing centers, 59 seed processing factories, 19,210 vehicles, 24,151 medium and large-sized tractors used for agriculture, and 290,000 kilometers of long-distance Line-Of-Communication.
